Led by an award-winning Mason with over 30 years experience, we offer the most skilled masonry work for your home. We specialize in tuck-pointing your brick exteriors alongside creating your individual and unique outdoor space.
All masonry has the ability to absorb moisture – whether from the air, the ground, rain or snow. But if you are experiencing moisture within your home, water in your basement, or efflorescence (bubbles of white powder on the exterior of the masonry) you need to identify the cause and source of the moisture and take steps to repair it. We specialize in correcting the underlying cause to prevent further deterioration and repairing the existing damage.
Walkways and Patios
If you can dream it, we can build it! We love to work with our clients to design custom patios, retaining and garden walls, walkways, water features and hardscaping.
Fireplaces and Chimneys
We specialize in chimney construction and repair, fireplace repair, and custom fireplaces.
We specialize in Tuckpointing (often called “point-up”) which is a three-stage process: carefully cutting out old, loose, voided or crumbling mortar; replacing it with mortar correct to the era of construction; and finally cleaning all of the bricks and mortar. The historic neighborhoods in the DC Metro area require specially mixed lime-based mortars that are softer than modern commercial and industrial strength cement-based mortars. Water, environmental elements like acid rain and our region’s freeze-thaw cycles will eventually degrade mortar and both exterior and interior damage can result. Tuckpointing done correctly should last 50-70 years.
Our Mason, Tom Michaliga, was the Head Head Mason on the Senate Side for the Architect of the capitol. He then dedicated himself to working directly with homeowners, offering the absolute best craftsmanship and service available.
